5 Sources of Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is those energy resources, which are replenished naturally and are found in abundance on earth surface .For example, energy generated from sunlight, wind, geo thermal are considered as renewable energy. Here is some information about the five sources of renewable energy.

1. Solar Energy- Here the source of energy is Sun and it is considered one of the most important sources of renewable energy. Solar energy is used for heating, lighting, water heating etc. Most of the forms of renewable energy come either indirectly or directly from the sun. For instance, heat from the sun causes the trees to grow. They also play an important role in the cycle of precipitation and evaporation, which makes hydropower possible.

2. Biomass Energy- Biomass is an essential source of energy.Wood is the most common source of biomass energy. Other sources of this energy include grasses, crops, organic components from industrial and municipal wastes, forestry waste and methane gas harvested from the community landfills. Biomass is used for producing electricity and as fuel for transportation.

3. Wind Energy- This energy is that energy which is used in sailing ships and for driving windmills. The source of energy is wind and it is derived by converting the wind energy by wind turbines and makes it available in useful form such as electricity. Wind energy accounts for more than 1.5%in worldwide use of electricity. It is becoming a popular source of energy and these days many sustainable energy consultants are coming into the front such as Enhar, which is a leading energy consultant and provides implementation of wind energy in Victoria.

4. Geothermal Energy- It is a cost effective, reliable and eco friendly source of renewable energy used for generating electricity but it has its limitations since it is accessible in those areas situated near tectonic plate boundaries.

5. Hydroelectricity- This energy is derived from the generation of power by using the gravitational force of the flowing water. This source of energy is eco friendly and small hydro electric power systems can be installed in small streams and rivers for generating electricity.
